HP Sure Click Secure Browsing Extension

The HP Sure Click Secure Browsing extension is installed as part of HP Sure Click and cannot be disabled. The extension can be removed by uninstalling HP Sure Click. The extension requires HP Sure Click to be installed in order to function.

The HP Sure Click Secure Browsing extension provides the following protection:

If you download files in Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge or Mozilla Firefox, those files will be protected by HP Sure Click. The file icon will show an additional blue shield to indicate that it is protected. Supported file types will open in a Micro-VM (virtual machine) which acts as a container to prevent malware from infecting your computer. Unsupported file types will prompt you to remove protection if you trust the source of the file.

If you right-click on a link to an untrusted website in Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge or Mozilla Firefox, an additional ‘Open in Secure Browser’ menu option will be shown. This allows you to open the website in HP Sure Click Secure Browser. HP Sure Click Secure Browser will open the website in a Micro-VM (virtual machine) which acts as a container to prevent malware from infecting your computer.

The HP Sure Click Secure Browsing extension has 4 main states:

Icon State
HP Sure Click Secure Browsing extension is loaded and functioning correctly.
No Icon HP Sure Click Secure Browsing extension is not loaded in the browser. Depending on your configuration, this may be expected.
HP Sure Click Secure Browsing extension is disabled because HP Sure Click has been disabled.

HP Sure Click Secure Browsing extension has discovered a problem.

  1. It is unable to communicate with HP Sure Click which must be installed on the computer being protected. Please make sure HP Sure Click is installed.
  2. You may also see this state with the message ‘HP Sure Click has encountered an error. Please restart the browser’. Once the browser has restarted, the extension should be able to resolve the error.
  3. If an error is shown, restarting your computer may help to resolve the problem. If the problem persists, please contact HP Support.
